Quick run to the ER
Yesterday was such a long day "listening" for Lauren to move. It just didn't seem to me that she was. My doctors and nurses in DM are so wonderful, and so I called them. They sent me over to the ER in Ottumwa. They checked her heart, and Dr. Coleman was there to call me doll and re-assure me that it was OK. And, with those few words I was able to move on and enjoy the evening and sleep a solid 8 hours. We all needed it.

We aren't tired of hearing about the progress. Your philosophy about seeing the shorter horizon in fog is a good analogy. We are just concerned and hoping that the right amount of time in the womb and benefit of the transfusions improves Lauren's development. Glad you got some good sleep after the reassurance from the ER.

In all of our trials and tribulations of having baby number 3, Dr. Coleman was our saving grace through it all. When we had our worst and best news, he was there with loving care and concern...I'm convinced that God sent you to him that night to be reassured! We've been in a "thick fog" many times and the only thing that has pushed us through has been our faith...when the fog was thicker, it was a time when I was relying on my worry and all that I knew to be real here on Earth. God has Lauren in His hands and will help the doctors in any way possible....He will!

My thoughts and prayers have been with you. I can only say that Lauren probably has inherited the toughness of her mommy (who made it through a car wreck to do RAGBRAI). Babies are little survivors with a lot of flexibility and she is getting excellent parenting and medical care. My granddaughter, Ainsley, was born at Mercy in Des Moines on Oct. 14th and the care was terrific. I only wish that we could 'fast forward' to see the good results in February to make the transfusions, etc. into annoyances instead of worries.
